The Origins of Leadership...... A GREAT leader makes happen anything they intend and skillfully avoids the unintended through great self knowledge - being consciously aware of the upper and lower limits of their abilities. Leadership is like the an iceberg - except that it does not travel purposelessly at the whim of current, tide and wind, enything but! The obvious abilities are present for all to see. The aptitudes support visible laedership. Forming the greater part of leadership and often hidden, in every way these are vital to leadership. Finally, and fundamentally, there are the values and predispositions which support and underpin the true leader.
But for inspirational leaders, there is more, much more. In inspired leaders all the above is supported by a confidence born of working for higher purpose (great leaders feel ‘owned by humanity’); feeling a loyalty and commitment to others which supporting wonderful 'followship’ – a strong determination to support the leader; Inspired leaders move in that warm milieu comprsing great integrity, fairness, honesty, openness, a passion for humanity, the confidence to be great with and through others, a gentle yet strong self belief and a calling for a balanced greater good rather than any self-created purpose. Their inspiration generates a great internalised equilibrium; an intuitive power; a belief and a sense of being which is their source of inspiration within themselves and others whom they touch.
