The Origins of Leadership...... A GREAT leader makes happen anything they intend and skillfully avoids the unintended through great self knowledge - being consciously aware of the upper and lower limits of their abilities.
Leadership is like an iceberg.... The obvious abilities are present for all to see. Hidden aptitudes support this visible leadership. The deeper aptitudes form the greater part of leadership. In every way these aptitudes are vital to leadership. Finally and fundamentally, there are the values and predispositions which support and underpin the surface skills and hidden attributes. These deeper predipositions, are the drives and motivators which sculpt motivation, decisons and behaviours - and in the end, success and outcomes. But for inspirational leaders, there is more, much more. In inspired leaders all the above is supported by a confidence born of working for higher purpose (great leaders feel ‘owned by humanity’); feeling a loyalty and commitment to others which ensures effortless 'followship’ – a strong determination to support the leader; Inspired leaders move in that warm milieu comprsing great integrity, fairness, honesty, openness, a passion for humanity, the confidence to be great with and through others, a gentle yet strong self belief and a calling for a balanced greater good rather than any self-created purpose. Their inspiration generates a great internalised equilibrium; an intuitive power; a belief and a sense of being which is their source of inspiration within themselves and others whom they touch.
